The Luxury Hospitality Library Charter™

Purpose

The Library exists to preserve, organise, evaluate, recommend and connect the world's most important published literature relating to luxury hospitality. Its purpose is to ensure that the accumulated knowledge of the profession remains accessible, connected and continually enriched for present and future generations.

Constitutional Principle

Luxury Hotel Brokers does not simply accumulate knowledge. It preserves, organises, connects and passes knowledge forward.

Placement

The Library is a permanent institutional collection maintained by the Luxury Hotel Brokers Research Institute™ at /research/library. It is not a resources page, an affiliate catalogue or a reading list.

Library Records

Every publication admitted to the Library receives a permanent Library Record identified by a Persistent Library Identifier of the form LHB-LIB-###### with metadata for title, authors, publisher, publication date, edition, ISBN/ISSN, topics, difficulty, audience, summary, editorial review, why-it-matters, recommendations and Knowledge Graph links. Records may be revised by the Editorial Board; revisions are version-controlled.

Editorial Independence

The Library recommends publications solely on the basis of their contribution to professional knowledge, historical significance or scholarly value. Inclusion within the Library does not imply endorsement of every opinion expressed within a publication. Likewise, omission does not imply criticism. Selection is independent of commercial, promotional and affiliate consideration.

The Luxury Hospitality Canon™

Every year the Institution reviews the Library and publishes the Luxury Hospitality Canon™ — the publications considered indispensable for understanding luxury hospitality. Books may be added; works may move in significance; new classics may emerge; historic works are preserved. The Canon is a living scholarly collection maintained under this Charter.

Institutional Reading Lists™

The Library maintains permanent reading pathways curated by the Institution. Each list is intended as a route into a discipline and grows over time as new works of consequence are admitted to the Library.

Knowledge Graph Integration

Every publication admitted to the Library becomes an entity within the Luxury Hotel Knowledge Graph™ and is connected to authors, hotels, brands, architects, standards, methodologies, universities, hospitality schools, leaders and concepts. This ensures the Library and the Knowledge Graph continuously reinforce one another.

Editorial Direction

The Library is not an online bookshop, an affiliate catalogue or a reading list. It is a permanent scholarly collection maintained in trust for the global luxury hospitality profession. Every publication is included because it contributes meaningfully to understanding, preserving or advancing luxury hospitality.
