The Research Charter.
The founding instrument of the LHB Research Institute — its mandate, its independence and its standing relationship to the wider institution.
Mandate
The LHB Research Institute exists to advance the understanding of the global luxury hotel industry through original research, permanent data infrastructure and independent publication. Its work is undertaken for the benefit of the industry and its principals, and is not conditioned on commercial engagement.
Independence
The Institute is editorially independent of the Advisory practice and the Brokerage. No client, counterparty or commercial partner may commission, review or influence a publication of the Institute. Advisory engagements do not create editorial claims on Institute coverage; Brokerage transactions do not create editorial claims on Institute coverage.
Governance
The Institute is governed by an Editorial Board, advised by a Research Advisory Council, and supported by a Regional Research Network. Each body operates under written terms of reference published under this Governance Centre.
Standards
All work published under the Institute imprint adheres to the Editorial Standards, the Research Methodology, the Corrections and Retractions policy, the Conflict of Interest policy and the Data Provenance statement gathered in this Governance Centre.
Permanence
Publications issued under this charter are permanent. Editions are numbered, dated and preserved in the institutional archive. Material corrections are disclosed on the publication itself and in the Corrections register; superseded editions are marked and linked to their successors.
Amendment
This charter is a standing instrument. Amendments are proposed by the Editorial Board, reviewed by the Research Advisory Council, and recorded with the date of adoption.
