Governance · Instrument II

Institutional principles.

Four disciplines govern the conduct of the institution. They are stated once, held to always, and cited from every instrument in this Governance Centre.

Independence

The institution's published research is not for sale, and its advisory judgement is not for hire beyond its stated engagement terms. Independence of view is the precondition of being useful to principals.

Restraint

The institution publishes when it has something durable to say. It does not chase topicality, comment on rumours, or fill its calendar to appear active. Restraint is a form of respect for the reader.

Permanence

Every publication is issued as a permanent record. Editions are numbered and dated, citations are provided, and superseded work is preserved and linked. The institution does not silently amend its published output.

Accuracy

The institution states what the evidence supports, discloses the limits of inference, and corrects material errors openly. Where the record is uncertain, it says so.
