Conflict of interest policy.
The institution operates a Research Institute, an Advisory practice and a Brokerage under one imprint. This policy is the discipline by which the independence of each is preserved.
Separation of function
The Research Institute publishes independently of the commercial interests of the Advisory practice and the Brokerage. Commercial engagement does not entitle any principal to editorial coverage, favourable treatment or advance sight of publication.
Disclosure
Where a member of the Editorial Board, Research Advisory Council, Investment Advisory Panel or Regional Research Network has a material interest in a hotel, group, operator, transaction or principal referred to in a publication, that interest is disclosed on the publication itself and recorded in the Register of Interests.
Coverage of engaged parties
The Institute may cover hotels, groups or principals who are currently or have previously been Advisory or Brokerage clients of the institution. Where it does so, the existence of the engagement is disclosed on the publication.
Recusal
A member of any institutional body who is materially conflicted with respect to a publication or a matter of policy recuses themselves from the editorial review or decision concerned.
Gifts, hospitality and stays
Complimentary accommodation, hospitality or gifts from a hotel, group or principal do not entitle the giver to editorial coverage. Where a stay or hospitality has informed a publication, that fact is disclosed.
Review
The Editorial Board reviews this policy annually and records its review in the Register of Interests.
